All That Moves
Original title: Alles wat beweegt
Synopsis
Early in the twentieth century, on the Dutch coast, a world-famous dancer experiences the greatest turnaround in her life.
American pioneer of modern dance, Isadora Duncan, challenges the laws and standards of her time, in both her personal life and her art. For the first time in the history of dance, she is seen dancing barefoot and wearing loose robes, inspired by the movements of nature.
In 1906, she is impregnated by a married man and retreats to a villa in the dunes at Noordwijk aan Zee. She wants to have her first child there, in the Netherlands, hopefully out of sight of the paparazzi. She does that consciously. She believes a woman should be able to have children however she wishes, and commits wholeheartedly to the British theater designer Edward Gordon Craig. She’s a free spirit but still gets caught up in her obsession with this man.
At the Dutch coast, Isadora Duncan braves the conservative powers that put pressure on her, and endures the greatest turnaround in her life.
