Wong, PP

Biography

PP Wong is a novelist, screenwriter and communications consultant.

PP’s debut novel, The Life of a Banana, was a finalist for the Women’s Prize for Fiction and highly rated in many publications, including The Guardian, The Independent, Corriere Della Sera, The Straits Times, Bangkok Post and Vanity Fair. The novel discusses race and class issues, and the TV adaptation is in development with PP as the writer-creator. She is also working on a middle-grade book series with magical pets and an updated version of The Life of a Banana.

PP completed an MFA at the University of British Columbia, specializing in TV writing. She was awarded the celebrated Cordula and Gunter Paetzold Fellowship.

As a child, PP’s socialist father brought her to listen to political debates at Speakers’ Corner, UK. She has written for non-profits that hope for equality and lived in countries where freedom is suppressed. Experiences that inspired her to write Slice the Water.
