Equipped with a sketchpad and some pencils, Michel Hazanavicius went to the Ukrainian front lines in November 2023 to meet the men and women who were fighting there. Some were career soldiers, others had been lawyers, metalworkers, web designers or violinists before they joined the army when Russia invaded on February 24, 2022.

Thanks to his skill as a writer and artist, he paints their portraits, describing life on the frontlines and paying tribute to these men and women who are so like us.
