The Salt of Life Can’t Be Found at the Grocery Store
Original title: Le sel de la vie ne se trouve pas à l’épicerie
Synopsis
Never let yourself be pigeonholed: you have to be yourself above all else.
In theory, Diane and her husband, Hervé, are the perfect couple: they have a beautiful home, a grown daughter, and a circle of friends. She even runs a thriving interior design shop. In reality, Diane has a weight in her chest that won’t go away. She is no longer happy. She then makes a radical decision: she will put her life as a woman before her loveless marriage. Even if it means becoming “the selfish villain” who breaks up a family in the eyes of her loved ones, and ends up isolated.
As she takes back control of her life, Diane doesn’t expect to make new friends who will turn her world upside down, and remind her that she still has a lot to offer. She puts up a notice board in her shop that offers hope and serves as a gathering place for the local community. In her quest to give meaning back to her life, Diane also gives meaning to the lives of others. The street where her shop is located becomes a meeting place for lonely people and those who have been left behind by society, a utopia of a less selfish world in which individuals are guided by their hearts rather than by machines.
