The Mein Kampf Trial
Original title: Le Procès Mein Kampf
Synopsis
The incredible but true story of the publication of Mein Kampf in France.
1934. France has recovered from the First World War, but uncertainty hangs over the true intentions of Adolf Hitler, Chancellor of Germany since 1933. His manifesto, Mein Kampf (“My Fight”), which he wrote while imprisoned, was a huge success in his own country. In France, however, only excerpts are known, and as the translation was banned by the Führer himself, the entire text remains unpublished.
This publication ban is intriguing for very different reasons and will unite the unlikeliest of allies.
On the one hand, a couple of veterans from the First World War who are actively right-wing and antisemitic and fear for France’s sovereignty, and on the other, members of a Jewish organization who wish to make Hitler’s despicable opinions known to as many as possible.
Le Procès Mein Kampf brilliantly tells the crazy story of the publication of this text in French and the resounding trial it led to, led by the flamboyant lawyer Philippe Lamour.
