Iris left Paris to follow her husband Paul to Vienna. While he flourishes, she feels like a stranger in this elegant city, where she knows neither the customs nor the language — and she has difficulties getting pregnant. With the help of Emilia, a whimsical neighbor and former operetta singer, Iris translates the mysterious document and embarks on an investigation through time.

Little by little, their research takes them to imperial Vienna and its contrasts, through the eyes of Andreas, a young aristocrat and architect full of ambition. From the glittering balls of the aristocracy to the dark alleys of the workers from Bohemia trying to survive, Iris will discover the beating heart of Vienna.

But behind the gilded facades, another truth emerges. Splendor is built on misery and social inequity. Despite the nuances, those ghosts of the past may awaken the heart of the present and guide Iris towards her fulfillment.
