Red and White
Original title: Le rouge et le blanc
Synopsis
Fresco full of enthusiasm and audacity. — Point de vue
A magnificent historical fresco recounting the tragic destiny of two brothers torn apart by history but bound together by the love of a woman.
Russia, 1914.
Alexei and Ivan Narychkin, two brothers from an aristocratic background, have nothing in common. Alexei, the eldest, inherited his determined, thoughtful temperament from his father. A liberal, he advocates the modernization and democratization of Russia. Ivan, on the other hand, resembles their mother: naturally tormented and exalted, he readily embraces anarchist and Marxist thinking.
But the two young men have something in common: their love for Natalia, their milk sister, daughter of their governess and the administrator of the family land.
When, in 1917, the Revolution broke out, everyone was torn apart, and each chose his camp, at the risk of one day having to confront the other…
Through the lives of Alexei, Ivan and Natalia, Harold Cobert delivers an enthralling epic spanning almost a century, with unforgettable characters.
