The first novel by Florence Mendez, comedian and humorist.
Daphne has made up her mind to end her life. After two failed suicide attempts, she meets Martin, an apprentice serial killer, on the dark web, who agrees to push her under the metro. The problem is that on the big day, he pushes the wrong woman. At the sight of the victim’s mutilated body, Daphne is no longer at all sure that she wants to die. But the contract is signed, and if she’s not dead in 10 days, another killer will take care of Daphne… but also Martin, who will have failed his mission. Daphne has just over a week to decide whether or not she wants to die. To help her make her choice, she consults a fallen psychiatrist. All this, of course, while trying to escape the sacked and wrongly accused cop who decides to investigate on his own…
Personal Accident is a text with drawers, with a plot and a quality of writing that encourages you to turn the pages.
Florence Mendez’ corrosive sense of humor succeeds brilliantly in making the transition to novel while dealing with powerful themes such as suicide and depression.
