The Parisian Stéphanie Maubé had a successful career in audio-visual and graphic design until a meeting with a sheep farmer in the Cotentin changed her life. At the age of 30, she took a radical new career direction and started to produce organic lamb for a handful of high-end restauranteurs and butchers.

Nothing came easily to this novice farmer. To make her business financially viable, she diversified by cultivating aromatic plants, creating a collective brand to showcase local wool, and organising tours of her salt meadows. Working within a protected natural area adds to the bureaucracy that small farming concerns have to contend with, but this free-spirited woman and president of the Normandy Sheep Association has stuck to her vocation despite all the obstacles. Her story is that of a young rebel shepherdess who has overcome adversity to campaign for a brighter future.
