Synopsis

Thomas is a thirty-something Parisian, and his life is not exactly straightforward. He has serious psychological issues that make his relationship with reality somewhat unstable. He is prone to uncontrollable loss of consciousness during which his mind escapes and travels to a mysterious universe called the In-Between World. These episodes are not without consequence on his personal life. Estelle, his partner, can no longer tolerate his ‘absences’ and is considering leaving him.
During one of his forays into the In-Between World, Thomas meets Axelle, an enigmatic young woman who seems to know the ways of this strange universe much better than he does. Is Axelle real or imaginary? Is Thomas fleeing reality and material contingencies? One would be tempted to believe so, given the many reasons for it. How can one react to the immense groundswell shaking society when one is directly impacted by the wave of layoffs accompanying the widespread use of AI? How can one resist the inexorable rise of fascism and intolerance in a society where the reversal of values is becoming systemic? Thomas keeps switching from one world to the other, and he is quite incapable of knowing which one is the craziest.
