Synopsis

DS APRIL FISHER SERIES (2 books under contract)

For fans of D.S. Butler, Charlie Gallagher, Rachel McLean, Alex Smith, Matt Brolly and Joy Ellis.

Three dead bodies, missing hands and eyes. Two missing people, a baby and her mother.

One suspected serial killer stalking the streets of Manchester.

Tony Anderson drives to a lonely Manchester street to meet a man who wants to buy his car. He steps onto the pavement, leaving his two-year-old daughter sleeping peacefully in the back. What happens next is every parent’s nightmare.

Tony is attacked. He watches in horror as the stranger speeds away with both his car and his daughter. Tony rushes home to his wife. But she’s gone too. The place is ransacked—and stained with blood.

DS April Fisher is called to investigate. But she’s got problems of her own. She can’t remember much of last night or who she went home with. The case forces April to ask hard questions of herself, even as she races against time to catch a monster. How can she protect the victims if she can’t protect herself?

MEET THE DETECTIVES

Thirty-four-year-old Detective Sergeant April Fisher needs to be tough. She’s seen too much out on the streets of Manchester to be any other way. And she’s experienced more than her share of tragedy in her personal life too. But she takes this all in her stride and keeps her head high, ready to tackle whatever is thrown at her—and there’s been a lot. She’s hardworking, focused and intelligent, but she has a tendency to be a bit rash, making quick decisions without thinking about the consequences, which often gets her in trouble.

THE SETTING

Welcome to Manchester. Known throughout the world as the birthplace of the industrial revolution, Manchester has a proud history in science, politics, music, arts and sport. The city centre is packed with unique and eclectic restaurants, bars, museums and galleries, while the surrounding boroughs boasts quaint market towns, traditional pubs and beautiful green spaces and waterways to be explored by foot or bike. But be careful, you might find a body or two hidden in the idyllic surroundings of this vibrant—but dangerous—city.
