Van Straten, Giorgio

Biography

Giorgio van Straten was born in 1955 in Florence. He is the author of many novels,
making his debut in 1987 with Generazione (Garzanti). Il mio nome a memoria,
previously published by Mondadori in 1999, won the Premio Viareggio and Premio
Procida. Mondadori also published La verità non serve a niente (2008) and Storia
d’amore in tempo di guerra (2014).

In 2016 Laterza published Storie di libri perduti. He is one of the directors of the magazine “Nuovi Argomenti” and translator of writers like Rudyard Kipling, Jack London, and Robert Louis Stevenson; from 2015 to 2019 he was Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York.
