Maurice Leblanc was born in Rouen in 1864. After attending law school, he tried his hand at journalism. In 1907, his first detective novel is published: Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Thief. The character immediately becomes popular and Leblanc made him the hero of a long series of adventures. The same character inspired the hit series "Lupin" released on Netflix in January 2021 and which, as Netflix has claimed, is on track to be seen by 70 million subscribers.
