Etchegaray, Roger (Cardinal)


Born in 1922 in the Basque country, Cardinal Roger Etchegaray was one of Pope John-Paul II’s closest collaborators for over 20 years, his delegate for missions of justice and peace around the world. Known for his warmth and simplicity, he is one of the most beloved cardinals in Rome. He is also the author of J'ai senti battre le coeur du monde (“I Have Felt the World’s Heart Beating”, Fayard 2007) and L’Homme, à quel prix ? (“Man At Any Price?”, Éditions de La Martinière, 2012 and Points (paperback), 2014).
