Biography

Author, journalist and producer, Laura El Makki joined the editorial team of Le Magazine littéraire in 2008, before hosting the program “On n’a pas fini d’en lire” on France Inter, then “Ça peut pas faire de mal” with Guillaume Gallienne. Still with France Inter, she writes and produces radio dramas and summer programs, including the series “Un été avec Proust” in 2013, “Les beaux esprits se rencontrent” in 2014 and “1001 mondes” in 2016.

Laura El Makki is dedicated to transmitting the great texts of our literary heritage. As a biographer, she has dedicated a book to the American philosopher, naturalist and poet Henry David Thoreau, and a second to the life and work of the British writer Herbert George Wells.

A professor at Sciences Po and Les Mots, she focuses on biographical writing. Author of Un été avec Victor Hugo, written in collaboration with Guillaume Gallienne and published by France Inter/Équateurs in 2016, and of Les Sœurs Brontë : La force d’exister published by Tallandier in 2017. In September 2023, she published her first novel, How Many Moons (Combien de lunes), with Les Escales.

Her latest release is Adèle Hugo: Her Writings, Her Story (Adèle Hugo, ses écrits, son histoire) 2025, with Éditions Seghers.
