Busfield, Andrea
Biography
Andrea Busfield is a former News of the World reporter who moved to Kabul some years before the paper shut down. It was a life-changing experience in many ways and when she returned to Europe, she brought with her a street dog called Blister. Fifteen years later, Blister lives with Andrea in Cyprus – along with five more rescues. As well as having her own pack of strays, and a number of feral cats, Andrea has found homes for nine other dogs that wandered into her path over the years.
While she considers her dogs to be ‘part of the family’, her great passion in life is horses and in 2012 she fulfilled a childhood dream when she bought a four-year-old thoroughbred stallion named Achilles. Sadly, Achilles passed away three years later and Andrea took on a retired racehorse called Lucky Star. Despite some challenging moments, this sweet-natured horse mended a very broken heart and reignited her passion for riding. So much so, Andrea bought a second horse in 2017 – a six-year-old Andalusian mare called Mina – and in 2021, a Hanoverian warmblood foal called Sundance. In between writing, Andrea now spends her time working out how to feed them all.
Andrea has written three novels: Born Under a Million Shadows; Aphrodite’s War; and The Silence of Stone. She also continues to work as a freelance journalist.
