Biography

Writer, poet, member of the Goncourt Academy (he won the Goncourt prize in 1987 for The Sacred Night), Tahar Ben Jelloun has painted for over a decade. His visual work has been the subject of many exhibitions in France and abroad, notably at the Arab World Institute in Paris. In 2017, he designed the stained-glass windows of a small village church in Anjou, a powerful and symbolic appeal for tolerance between religions.

He has written over sixty novels, essays, and poetry collections that have been bookshop bestsellers.
