Under the Waves of Barcelona
Original title: Sous les vagues de Barcelone
Synopsis
When Art Nouveau curves reveal traces of intimacy, of what living beings leave behind.
Bianca, a young architect studying in Paris but with roots in Spain, is entrusted with a unique mission by a client who is as wealthy as she is unusual: to assess the glass roof of a private mansion.
Under the grey tarpaulin, a discovery changes everything: a forgotten signature — ‘C. Vilà, 1900’.
Who is this craftsman who has disappeared from the archives? And why does his name resonate with Bianca’s origins?
Her research takes her on a journey through the World’s Fairs and the splendor of Art Nouveau, all the way to Barcelona, where Gaudí built his dreams in stone.
In the archives and workshops of the past, Bianca finds traces of a certain Camille Vilà, a creator as talented as he was enigmatic, linked to the stained glass windows of Parc Güell and the Sagrada Família.
Little by little, the mystery becomes intertwined with her own story, blurring the line between investigation and intimacy.
Two destinies separated by time, united by the same question: how can one leave a mark without losing oneself?
This novel highlights the place of architecture in our environment and in our daily lives.
