Singer, Tania & Ricard, Matthieu (editors)

Tania Singer is the Director of the Department of Social Neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. Her research focuses on the developmental, neuronal, and hormonal mechanisms underlying human social behavior and she is recognized as a world expert on empathy.

Matthieu Ricard is a Buddhist monk, a bestselling author and a photog- rapher. A molecular geneticist, he has served as an interpreter for the Dalai Lama. He first became well known thanks to the book he wrote with his father, Jean-François Revel (The Monk and the Philosopher, 1997).
