HEALTH
A moving ode to caregivers.
Medicine sometimes means curing, oftentimes providing relief, And always offering comfort. Lung specialist Sander de Hosson show how this centuries-old observation is as true as it ever was. He treats terminally ill patients who are in the last phase of their lives. Together with a team of care providers, he seeks to ensure that his patients have the best possible quality of life (and death).
Dr. de Hosson speaks openly about his thoughts and feelings, and about how he deals with often complex cases and how he grapples with questions that face many doctors: what are the limits of medicine? Should we perform a certain treatment just because we can?
The Final Bow offers a unique glimpse into a world of dilemmas, sadness, compassion, love, genuine human contact and comfort.
Sander de Hosson (1977) is a trained physician who has worked as a lung specialist since 2012 at the Wilhelmina Hospital in Assen.
