DYSTOPIAN THRILLER

One evening in 20th century Paris: A bomb attack in a pizzeria in the Pigalle district kills ten people. Who is responsible? What are the terrorists’ motives?

Idealistic journalist Fjord Keeling is a bit of a loser. He’s left on his own at the leading daily newspaper Le National, since his superiors – including his ex-wife – no longer support him. While waiting at the pizzeria for an appointment which doesn’t show up, he leaves a few seconds before the bomb explodes. He sees everything and decides to investigate on his own, exploring several leads. He soon realizes that the drug gangs, which have been corrupting the capital with a new, ultra-addictive and cheap drug called D23, are too ideal to be the culprit. However, as he interferes with a skillfully developed plan as well as political and financial interests that outstrip him, he runs the risk that suspicion turns against him. Since in tomorrow’s France, where the state is in dire straits and private interests are stripping it to the bone, security becomes a vital issue that is impossible to escape. The trap is closing gradually.

In a Paris that has become a sprawling city, marked by snowstorms, where the grimy slums border on stylish protected residences, Fjord Keeling still believes he can make a change. He is the only one.

Sales arguments:
• A page turner with Orwellian thriller elements.
• A disturbingly realistic science fiction novel, perfectly in tune with the current crises: the debt of the States, the impression that powerful multinational corporations are unstoppable, the growing individualism.
• Paris and France are depicted as they have never been before, ready to fall into the hands of China, the capitalist power of tomorrow.
