The strong implication of State in these cultural fields is often shown as a French peculiarity. For one decade, the set of themes of the “cultural State” is feeding in many ways a critic of the cultural policy. The 20th century shows a growing intervention of the authorities. Philippe Poirrier insists on the fact that the “cultural State” is the consequence of a long and faltering historical sedimentation. State is not the only actor of a history that shows the growing implication of the authorities. The result is an unquestionable homogenization of the cultural supplies on the whole national territory within the scope of a mixed cultural economy.
